Book of Magic
The Legend of Zelda
A book discovered by Link in the Lion Labyrinth beneath the woods of Southern Hyrule, this book explained the use of the Fire Bolt spell, which is in the front of the book. It is obviously quite ancient, and the sages of Hyrule have been busy trying to unlock its secrets, but many parts of it are faded, torn, or eaten by bookworms.
Much of what it contains makes very little sense. Most of its writings seem to be about spells similar to Fire Bolt in that they are not so much spells in and of themselves, as techniques to improve existing spells. Unfortunately, most of the spells it speaks of have been forgotten.

Suggested Items for Campaigns: This item demonstrates that Hyrulian spells can be written down in books, and probably usually are. Spellbooks would make excelent objects of quests, or interesting items to "come across" along the way, sometimes even being necessary for the completion of the quest.

Cross of Truth
The Adventure of Link
A cross, recovered by Link from the Palace at Three-Eye-Rock on Hyron, which allows its holder to see the absolute truth. This means that creatures that would nomally be invisible are plainly obvious to its holder, and on the other hand, unreal things such as Mimics, are invisible the its holder.

Suggested Items for Campaigns: Items used to see the truth should be quite rare, or else invisibility loses its advantage. However, a well-developed party should have opportunity to find one such item at some point.

Medallions

According to legend, the three Medallions of Ether, Bombos, and Quake miraculously appeared out of heaven when the Legendary Hero retrieved the Master Sword during the Great Catyclism. The Ether Medallion was supposedly received on spire of Death Mountain, and the Bombos Medallion is said to have been granted in the Desert. The ancient texts differ as to where the Quake Medallion was received, but they all agree it was given by a giant fish, and presumably in the vicinity of Death Mountain, but the descriptions of the location are very confusing.

Magic Mirror
A Link to the Past The Magic Mirror is an ancient artifact of uncertain origin. If ever its holder becomes lost, or trapped, he need only look into the mirror, and he will find himself free of his trap. It will instantly teleport a character out of any maze, dungeon, pit, trap, or even alternate universe he may find himself in.
